Eurostat Conference on Social Statistics 2016

"Towards more agile social statistics" 28-30 November 2016

Improving the policy-relevance of European social statistics is a high priority for Eurostat. This conference aimed to bring together experts and stakeholders in various statistical and policy domains to give input to the future development of Eurostat's social statistics.

The conference addressed a range of social statistics-related issues including, but not limited to, the future of census-type population statistics, use of big data in social statistics, modernised data collection on income, consumption and wealth, and new ways of monitoring labour mobility and transitions. Topic-specific sessions provided examples of new developments that allow for more relevant and timely statistics to be produced.

At the same time, the policy framework that underlies needs for statistics were presented by European and national policy makers.
